Home-made donuts

  • 60 dag flour
  • 12 dag margarine
  • 40 dag full-fat cottage cheese
  • 15 dag sugar
  • 2 dag yeast
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 2 tbsp cream
  • 4 eggs
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 1 sachet vanilla sugar
  • salt
  • ¾ cup fruit preserve or marmalade
  • ½ kg lard for frying
  • 1 cup sugar powder for dusting

Directions:

Prepare dough out of yeast, milk and 3 tablespoons of flour. Set aside and allow to rise. Grind the cottage cheese. Mix the remaining flour with chopped margarine, cream, cottage cheese, eggs, sugar, baking powder, vanilla sugar and salt. Add the previously prepared leaven and knead a soft dough. Form dough balls and insert a teaspoon of preserve or marmalade inside each ball. Set aside and allow to rise. Melt the lard in a large pot. Deep-fry the donuts in hot lard until golden brown.
